This bill would put an end to the “pay for play” politics that have put special interest first, at the expense of the best interests of the American people. This bill is a pledge to restore honest leadership and open government to ensure the strength of our democratic system by limiting gifts and travel; regulating Member travel on private jets; slowing the revolving door between Congress and lobbyist shops; ending the practice of adding special interest provisions into bills late at night; toughening public disclosure of lobbyist activities; and establishing a new Office of Public Integrity to ensure compliance with the new rules.

Cosponsor of H.Res. 688 - The 72-Hour Rule Resolution

This bill would amend the Rules of the House of Representatives to require that legislation and conference reports be available on the Internet for 72 hours before consideration by the House. This rule change would ensure that the public had access to the details of legislation, before it was voted on by their elected representatives.
